telehealth

For those unfamiliar with Teleheath, this method can seem somewhat intimidating and perhaps an inferior approach to therapy. I can appreciate this as I was a bit skeptical about it as well when I first started counseling. But rest assured, it can be quite effective, practical, manageable and profound. For some folks, given their schedule or logistics, it’s the only realistic way they can receive therapy. For others, Telehealth feels safer than being in-person. Especially if they’ve never shared deeper subject matter with others before.

Previous clients have used their phones, tablets or computers for Telehealth sessions, all with success. There are a couple of important things to know however. First, a reliable internet connection for video is important for session continuity. You’ll know this if you have ever watched a video or movie on your device. If you can do this without repeated delays or interruptions then most likely, Telehhealth will work fine. If you use your phone for the session, connecting to a wi-fi connection usually helps in this regard and depending on your location may be required.

Another, and perhaps more important consideration is your privacy. Telehealth is not something you would do in a public place where others are present and can overhear your session. You want a private space. Most find a private room in their residence or some other location where others are unable to hear. In addition, some choose to use earbuds or headphones with a mic to ensure greater privacy. Some clients have done sessions from their parked car. If you do choose to do this from your car, you must be parked and not moving. In addition you would want to park in a place you feel safe and won’t be interrupted.

Our initial free consultations is done via a video conference call, so this will give you a good opportunity to experience what this would be like. Feel free to reach out if you have any additional questions or concerns about Telehealth.
